Coronation 1909<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Virgin of the Head was canonised on April 23, 1909, according to decree of pope Pius X named the patron saint of And\u00fajar on 18 march of the same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To commemorate such a unique and significant event is called a Floral Games, theatre, bullfights, music concerts, religious events, conferences, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The act of coronation took place on the paseo de Col\u00f3n, where he was transferred to the image; that he had arrived days earlier from his sanctuary and was deposited in the parish of Saint Mary. The crowns, the goldsmith Italian Marabini, were blessed by the archbishop of Granada, in the presence of the bishop of Ja\u00e9n. Then, there was a great procession through the streets of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To commemorate the Centenary of the Coronation, the Royal and Illustrious Brotherhood Womb of the Virgin of the Head prepared a series of religious and cultural acts to perform in the annual period of 2009 and 2010. S. pope John XXIII (1958-1963), declared, by means of a papal bull, the Virgin of the Head, the Patron saint of the Diocese of Ja\u00e9n.
