The universality and greatness of the worship and devotion to Our lady. Ms. Head has been demonstrated through the centuries by Kings and great authors. The first documents appear in "the book of the city of Andújar" where the Holy King Fernando III command to describe the happy discovery of the Image, the decision of the council and the clerencia, and the interesting details of the Solemn translation. The King Alfonso X (also referred to in the poem 348 of its "Cantigas de Santa Maria", but not under the title of the Head, and Alfonso XI refers to the Shrine as a place well-known in his "Book of the Hunt" (1340).
Especially prolific was the SEVENTEENTH Century, where they described the Procession of the Blessed. Virgin of the Head writers of the stature of Miguel de Cervantes in "The works of Persiles and Segismunda" (1617), lope de Vega in his works "The tragedy of king don Sebastian," and "the conversion of the prince of Morocco" (1594), following the conversion of Moulay Xeque in the previous year and "Basking in their Homeland" (1604) or Pedro Calderón de la Barca in his work "The conversion of the Xeque, the prince moro" and also Argote de Molina in his treatise on "the Andalusian Nobility" (1588)
Other authors also s. XVII, described in full detail on this pilgrimage in such works as "Relationship of some things of note that have this kingdom and bishopric of Jaén" (1614) Gaspar Salzedo of Aguirre, "the Bishops and anal ecclesiastics of the diocese of Jaén and Baeza" (1652) of Ximena Jury, the work of Lumps Oak "St. Euphrasius, martyr, bishop and patron of Andújar" (1657) or perhaps one of the most important "Eulogy History of Our Lady of the Head of the Sierra Morena" (1677) of Salcedo Olid.
Also have dedicated works to the Stma. Virgin of the Head and its Pilgrimage, as the authors Argote de Molina in his "Nobility of Andalusia" (1588), Ambrosio de Morales in "the Age of the cities of Spain" (1557), Jaime Oliver Asín in "Life of Mr. Felipe of Africa, prince of Fez and Morocco" (1566-1621), Bartolomé Pérez Guzman, Luisa Faith and Jimenez, Alfredo Cazabán, Antonio Alcalá Wenceslada or Carlos Torres Laguna, being the TWENTIETH century singularly prosperous in terms of publications of new texts, as well as in the research, recovery and re-edition of old books...
